Help me create more Open content

I want to keep my content open and up-to-date. But to achieve that and keep creating new material, I need your support.

Most content creators quit because of the massive time commitment — way more than people think. How many valuable sites have you seen with no updates for years, even though the content was great? Some others end up limiting the access behind subscriptions and closed courses. I understand why they do it, but I will try to avoid that and continue publishing extensive articles regularly and for everyone, as long as people like you help me keep going. I believe in a collaborative community, and free and open sources of information must be part of it. This decision comes with risks, but I will try to stick to it and trust in a society that is mature and mindful of the value of others' work.

If you like my work, and you'd like to give back, you can donate whatever you think is fair through the links above. You can opt for a one-time contribution via PayPal (please choose 'friends and family' for lower fees) or BuyMeaCoffee, or a monthly subscription on Patreon. As a token of appreciation for their great contribution, Early BYTE Explorer Patreon subscribers will enjoy early access to my content on Patreon for a reasonable amount of time, until it is eventually released to everyone on this page. If you are more interested in my bikepacking journey, you can join the BIT Biker subscription level, a more affordable option that also has its perks

If you can’t afford to contribute, no worries — you can still help by sharing my content, so it reaches more people. You will also find some other ways to support me at the end of this page. In any case, enjoy this site whenever you want, with no restrictions.

Thank you all so much!

♻️ Giving back to the FOSS (Free and Open Source Software) Community

At least 10% of the donations I receive are donated to free and open-source projects. Thanks to the support I've received, I've been able to cover some expenses for my bikepacking adventure while spreading FOSS along the way. But the content I create wouldn’t be possible without FOSS, and many of these projects are severely underfunded.

Even though 10% of what I get won’t even cover a basic web domain (and in many countries, not even a coffee! 😂), I'll do my best to give these projects visibility, hoping that, with a bit of luck, contributions will grow. I strongly believe in the FOSS community—not just in receiving, but also in giving back.

Once again, a huge thank you to everyone who helps make this adventure possible!

List of projects since April 1, 2025

- Apr 25: BeWelcome (hospitality network) → 10€ (~ 15%)

- May 25: Neovim (text editor) → 10€ (~ 11%)

- Jun 25: OpenStreetMap (open map database) → 12€ (~ 10%)

- Jul 25: QEMU (machine emulator/virtualizer) → 10$ (~ 12.5%)

Other ways to support me

If you can't afford any economical support or simply don't want to do it that way, you can still support me in a few different ways.

Buy on Amazon through my Affiliate Links

If you access Amazon through one of the following links (choose the right one for your country) to buy something, you will pay exactly the same amount (if you don't believe me, you can test it first if you like 😂), but a small commission will be sent to me. The amount is really tiny, but everything adds up!

If your country is not on the list, then you can forget about this option 😂

Help me improve my website

I am not a web developer, and I have very little time to learn JavaScript, CSS, HTML, and—above all—good practices to improve this website. If you'd like to fix bugs or improve the overall quality (e.g. speed), please send me a PR on GitHub. I've added a small list of TODOs to the README, and I would be really grateful if you could solve one of them!
